Esther, Tamar and the Hineni team
Machane Hineni, the first and only camp of its kind, was established 23 years ago in order to make the most of the summer vacation and to create meaningful activities for the our society, for whom concepts of giving and kindness are at the top of its list of values.
Our social leadership program instills these values in an experiential and enjoyable way.
During the program, the campers will be exposed to diverse projects among different populations in the community in the area. Through their participation they will discover many positive things about themselves. Our goal is for every camper to realise with a deep inner knowledge that she is invaluable and that she has something great to contribute to society.
It is a real Israeli experience embodying Torani values. The warm family atmosphere puts emphasis on personal attention to each camper.
There is a madricha responsible for each group of 12-15 campers. The madrichot are graduates of 11th/12th graders from a variety of Ulpanot throughout the country and undergo full training by the experienced team of Hineni.
The camp’s team also includes a social coordinator, logistics coordinator, project manager, Esther Einstein (group facilitator, employment counselor), mother of 10 and grandmother of 24 grandchildren, and Tamar de Haan (MA Educational Systems Management) mother of 3.
The campers stay on our beautiful campus in the desert landscape in full boarding school conditions and are accompanied by a dedicated team that plans, organises and supervises the program throughout the camp.
As is the tradition at all summer camps around the world, apprenticeships say goodbye to smartphones and enjoy life!
So far, more than 2,000 alumni from all over the country (and some from abroad…) have enjoyed Machane Hineni.
We are a summer camp that combines meaningful social leadership projects with summer camp activities. We believe that the right balance between giving and receiving builds resilience and personal identity. This combination is a winner! The projects are interwoven with the program, during which we will help an Israeli farmer, meet with the elderly, adults with special needs, kindergarten children and immigrants from Ethiopia who live in the absorption center.
We prepare delicacies for the elderly and the soup kitchen. We process the activities with the campers so that each girl goes through her own discovery journey while in camp.
The rest of the time the apprentices will enjoy swimming, tiyulim, ODT, art and sports, dancing, Zumba, a health spa, and all kinds of fun activities for their age.
The program enables girls to discover their abilities, to empower their personal resilience, feel meaningful and have fun at the same time. At the end of camp, the campers feel an enormous sense of satisfaction.
From different Ulpanot all over the Israel.
There are usually buses from 3 central stops – Jerusalem, Modiin and Beit Shemesh and we will add stations if necessary. The bus will be at cost price – around 220 NIS round trip. We will update via email.
What is the degree of allergy? If it is life endangering unfortunately we will not be able to accept her.
If not, and she is responsible, we will get parental and doctor’s approval and the cook can accommodate their diet.
We require girls to wear knee-length skirts/long pants and shirts with sleeves, not shirts that show their bellies. And we expect them to dress respectfully when we go out to community projects.
There are times for tefilla, divrei Torah, and everything connects “olam chessed yiboneh” in an experiential way. There are in-depth workshops, of course, but no long shiurim. Shabbat will be Shabbat!.
As is the tradition of most summer camps in the world, you leave your screen and live life.
Hoping we will be cellphone free till Erev Shabbat… but most likely to be allowed for half an hour every evening.
Camp staff consists of experienced teachers and educators, 2 camp co-ordinators, and a madricha for every group of 15-18 girls..
The camp is of course approved by the Ministry of Education.
We understand… the amount can be challenging. All the girls are actually subsidized because the camp actually costs 4500 NIS per girl. At the same time, The Goodman Foundation sees us as being a good educational investment and allows us to give scholarships and discounts to those eligible. All you have to do is apply and the committee meets every Wednesday. You will receive a reply by email. The link is on the website.
